Conducting systematic literature reviews and understanding bibliometrics (Advanced workshop for the Royal Holloway Business School)

Conducting systematic literature reviews and understanding bibliometrics (Advanced workshop for the Royal Holloway Business School) In-Person

This is an advanced workshop for Doctoral Students & Faculty of the Royal Holloway Business School.

Outline of the two-part workshop

Part 1: Conducting a systematic literature review

As you know, the cornerstone of any research is surveying the literature to see what work has gone before and identifying gaps or areas for further research. But what is a systematic literature review, and how does one do it?

The first part of this workshop will outline how systematic reviews differ from ordinary literature searches and will equip you with practical guidance on conducting a systematic literature review.

Part 2: Understanding bibliometrics

In the age of research metrics, citation counts and other bibliometrics are becoming increasingly important. But what are bibliometrics? How does one find data about research publications? What does it all mean?! The second part of this workshop aims to give you a good understanding of bibliometrics and how they can enhance the impact and visibility of research.

So, if you have ever wanted to know more about systematic reviews or asked yourself, “How many times have I been cited?” or “Which journal should I publish in?” This interactive workshop is for you!

Workshop objectives

At the end of this workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Understand what a systematic review is and know how to conduct one.
  • Know what bibliometrics are and understand how to utilise them to their advantage.
